Since 2007, Sustainable Development Initiative (SDI) has been aiding the transformation of Malawi's rural communities with education and action.
- SDI (previous known as SRGDI) was founded by young graduates from University of Malawi. The organisation was formed to improve the quality of lives and livelihoods of people, promote sustainable development and create entrepreneurship and job opportunities for young people.
- The organisation started from humble beginning helping vulnerable communities through contributions made by young graduates.
- SDI can now provide employment to over 30 full time employees (Predominantly young college graduates). SDI also provides internship to fresh graduates in Malawi and abroad.
- SDI is improving lives of over 10000 households in Chitipa, Blantyre, Thyolo, Chikhwawa, Salima, Lilongwe and Phalombe district in Malawi in areas of HIV & AIDs (Paediatric HIV, Adolescents & Young People), Youth Development, Disaster Risk Reduction & Humanitarian Assistance, Economic empowerment, Environment & Natural Resources Management and Social Enterprises (Solar, Honey & Water Filters). SDI also provides library services, computers and internet services to communities in Blantyre.
