Since 2007, Sustainable Rural Growth and Development Initiative (SRGDI) has been aiding the transformation of Malawi's rural communities with education and action.
SRGDI was founded by young graduates from University of Malawi. It was formed to improve the quality of lives and livelihoods of people, promote sustainable development and create entrepreneurship and job opportunities for young people.
The organisation started from humble beginning helping vulnerable commmunities through contributions made by young graduates.
SRGDI can now provide employment to over 30 full time employees (Predominantly young college graduates). SRGDI also provides internship to fresh graduates in Malawi and abroad.
SRGDI is improving lives of over 5000 households in Chitipa, Blantyre, Thyolo, Chikhwawa and Phalombe district in Malawi in areas of Entrepreneurship and Business support, HIV& AIDS prevention and care, Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation, Agribusiness, Microfinance (VSLAs), Dairy production, Water access, Climate Change and Solar Energy. SRGDI also provides library services, computers and internet services to over 200 youth and 16 community based organizations.
